Introduction
Configuring your computer for SCB DSL is quick and easy. Simply follow the steps below.

Before you begin
If you are not using DHCP, you will need the following information in order to configure your computer to use SCB xDSL services.

  • Gateway IP address
  • Broadcast IP address
  • A unique IP address for your computer*

    *When you got your account, you should have been given this information, along with a range of IP addresses that you could use on your ethernet network. If you do not know your IP range, Please call us.

Open the Windows Networking Control Panel
1 Start>Settings>Control Panel>Network and Dial-up Connections>Make New Connection
2 Select the 'Configration' tab

Select 'TCP/IP >Ethernet Adapter'

4 Select 'OK'
Configuring TCP/IP Properties if you are using DHCP:
1 Select the 'IP Address' tab
2 Select 'obtain an IP address automatically'

Select 'OK'

If you are not using DHCP
1 Select the 'IP Address' tab
2 Select 'Specify an IP address'
3 Enter a unique IP address
4 Select 'OK'
Configuring the Gateway
1 Select the 'Gateway' tab
Domain Name Server Configuration
1 Select the 'DNS Configuration' tab
2 Select 'Enable DNS'

Troubleshooting

Testing the Gateway
1 Start > Run
2 Enter 'cmd'
3 Select 'Ok'
4 Enter 'ipconfig' into the DOS window and tap the 'Enter' key
5 Take note of the IP address of the Default Gateway. The IP address is a set of four numbers separated by periods
6 Type 'ping '. Replace '' with the IP Address of the Default Gateway from Step 5
7 If the Gateway is UP you will see several lines that look like:
Reply from 192.204.193.193: bytes=32, time=10ms, TTL=225
If you receieve any other response your DSL configuration is misconfigured
